Melbourne’s West Print Makers Hub
The Sunshine Print Artspace (SPA) is a Not for Profit creative workshop and custom printmaking studio run by passionate volunteers. It’s an artist hub founded by Phillip Doggett-Willians and Adrian Spurr where printmakers gather to foster and nurture their creative flow.
Phillip and Adrian have sourced and restored printing presses from all across Victoria, (including a Hopkinson & Cope Albion printing press from 1856!)
Local creatives are welcome to use the SPA collection of antique and modern presses.
“We have now been operating for over a year and are pleased to be part of the artistic environment in Melbourne’s west. SPA is becoming well known across Melbourne,” says Phillip.
SPA welcomes both emerging and professional artists by offering studio space, artistic support, workshops and training in areas such as silkscreen for textiles and paper, lithography, intaglio and relief printing.
Open Studio
This year SPA will be part of the Craft Cubed 2019 festival, with an Open Studio Weekend on 24-25th August. Visitors will enjoy demonstrations of various printmaking techniques including screen printing, etching, lino printing, and block printing. Works created by members of SPA will be on exhibition during the weekend.

Fundraising Art Auction
An annual art auction is held to raise funds for the non-profit Artspace. Previously, a number of well-known artists have generously donated their work.
The fundraiser will enable SPA to develop creative workshop programs, further equip and finance their studio spaces and consolidate their vision, values and culture within the arts community, both in the West of Melbourne and beyond.
“In addition to promoting printmaking we aim to provide opportunities for artists to document and display their artworks, as well as promote events that encourage meaningful dialogue on issues of culture, politics and the environment.”
