Storytowns: Railway Stories

Geo-located podcasts telling fascinating local stories along Melbourne’s train lines!

About Storytowns: Railway Stories

Western Melbourne Tourism has been working in association with Storytowns to create a program of geo-located podcasts, offering a new way for both commuters and visitors to explore Melbourne’s west by train.

This is part of a broader Melbourne-wide initiative instigated by Metro Trains, with Storytowns and the Department of Transport and Planning.  All podcasts have now been released for Melbourne’s west train network.

This wonderfully curated series covers local history, culture, and attractions, including intriguing facts such as a Sunshine-made harvester sold to a Russian Tsar, the taste difference between Northern Pho and Southern Pho in St Albans (the little Vietnam of the West!), the international significance of the Cheetham Wetlands in Point Cook and much more.
