A Hellenic Paradise

Philhellene – Provincial Greek Cuisine

Passionate home cooks John and Susie opened Philhellene over 10 years ago on one of the bustling streets of Melbourne’s West.

A cosy and warm family run restaurant with real Greek food. The name itself says it all. Philos means friend and Hellen means Greek.

Philhellene offers authentic Greek cuisine with a specific influence of Cretan style food and cooking.

John and Susie have been frequent winners of ‘best Greek restaurant’ in the Age Good Food Guide, and have featured in Vogue Entertaining and other prominent foodie media.

As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival the family have hosted “Celebrating Cretan Food”, an event which is just that. An incredible feast of fine food, wine and traditional music.

Broadsheet Melbourne has described it as “a Hellenic paradise right here in Melbourne”.
